The Istya Reader

The Istya Reader is a viewing application which may be distributed freely to students or other users of Istya content. The reader implements several features which aid in the learning process.

Making notes within the content itself

The student can add his own notes to the text if he wishes, or even change the original material. A full history of these notes is stored so that the student can undo changes, even weeks after making the original notes, and can also go back and view how the notes developed over time. The original text can quickly be called up if the user wishes.

Full text search

The content can be searched for words or a combination of words. The look and feel of the searching is very similar to web based search engines.

3D navigation page

Using a 3D display of 'books' and 'trees' one can quickly navigate to any page. The ‘books’ represent a subject module and the selected book opens up to display a tree like structure of the content. Use is made of indexing thumbnails to aid in a rapid re-finding of content pages.
