Protein Notepad application

A lot of current research in genomics is related to the functioning of proteins. To understand their chemical reactions it is crucial to know the 3D spatial structure. For this purpose a publicly accessible database has been created; The Protein Databank (PDB), currently holding 31,000 entries.

The Protein Viewer is a university-level application that can make an on-line connection to the protein database. It then displays this data as a 3D protein model.

Users can select part of the strand and define a custom colouring for that section. This allows one to highlight specific parts of the molecule. Just as in any other Istya title, the 'Make Notes' facility allows personal comments to be added to each protein page.
